After teaching most my children as well as the neighbor children as well as friend's kids, I now think about myself somewhat of an expert. Learning to ride a bicycle does not need to be a painful experience, its definitely very many of good and shall be done by anyone. Learning balance first is the key, forget the pedaling for now, that shall return with no problems later, just work on balance. Balance is easy whether you isolate it. Up until now, the preferred method to read how to ride a bicycle is creating use of training wheels.
Well, there now is an improved method, and it involves no tears. This method shall let your child to read at their own pace and without the bumps and bruises. Some children are real determined and shall read quick, others, not so much, but they shall still learn, just at their own pace. I recommend not pushing your child, just let them read to like it. If they can be not interested this week, try repeatedly in another 3 weeks.
When they look their older siblings or neighbors riding, they shall naturally ask if they can read to ride as well. Start with a scoot bike, aka balance bike. Forget the training wheels, they basically just slow this process down. A scoot bicycle or balance bicycle shall be located at your regional bicycle shop. The bicycle consists of a frame, wheels, saddle and handlebars.
Nothing else to complicate the process. The bicycles are super light and easy for them to maneuver. They typically cost around $100 or so, whether you can not afford this, another choice is to take a 12 or 16 inch bike, remove the pedals, and decreased the seat all the method down. Have them sit on the bike, and beginning to walk. They can do this repeatedly until you look that they can be comfortable with basically sitting on the seat.
Next, you need to place them on a grassy hill, slight hill that is, and have them walk or even sprint below the hill with their bicycle below them. They should do this over and over, maybe for a little periods or maybe for a little days, depends on the child. After repeated riding of this bike, on the grass, have them sprint on pavement as well. Over time, you WILL look them beginning to pick up their feet for a little seconds at a time. Have them run, then coast while lifting their feet.
Once they can do this, think about you done. The hard work, learning balance, was mastered. Let them play on this bicycle for as long as they want, but have that 16 inch bicycle with out training wheels sitting near by until they can be ready for it. This shall not take long. Once the balance is down, the pedaling is easy, trust me.
And make sure they can be possessing fun, this is most important. I can not stress this enough, if they can be not enjoying learning to ride a two-wheeler, stop and try repeatedly in a little weeks. Before my children learned to ride a bike, they most had a Radio Flyer Large Flyer to scoot around the driveway. They knew how to pedal at an unique young age. We also bought a best bicycle tool kit, the Park Tool Kit, this minimizes trips to bicycle store.
Oh, and I almost forgot, we purchased a Cygolite for nightime riding, they can be truly amazing.
