The best things to carry with you on a mountain bike ride

Mountain biking is a fun sport that almost everyone can take part in, all you need is a bike. It's a great way to get out side, burn calories, and become a healthier person. Although it may be fun there are some things you shouldn't leave home without before hitting the trails. Some are obvious such as water, but you should also pack in a spare tube, food, a pump, and other tools you will need to make small repairs.
You will want to pack away some food such as a sandwich, or energy bar. Most people don't think about it but riding bike burning a lot of calories. It is not uncommon to burn over 1,000 calories per an hour of riding. When you are burning that many calories you need to replenish your bodies energy or you will eventually hit the wall and bonk. Having an energy bar during a ride can be a life saver. One of the worst feelings on a bike is the one when you are absolutely fatigued and are a few miles from your car or home. The ride back will be a long and painful one. Water is an obvious thing to bring on your rides. You always want to stay hydrated to help avoid cramps, dehydration, and replenish your body as you sweat. Just like food, you don't want to be stranded in the middle of a trail without water, that too is a horrible feeling and one you wouldn't want to experience twice.

Another thing I would bring on a ride is a spare inner tube and a pump to pump up the inner tube. It is possible to get a flat while on riding and you don't want to end up having to walk home. Having to walk your bike 5 miles can end up taking hours. Carrying a tube can save you a huge headache and a lot of time.
Mountain biking is a great sport but you need to be prepared before you venture out onto the trails. If you don't, you can find yourself in a bad situation out in the middle of a trail.
