Bike Well-being For Kids: Helmets Are Not Enough

Most of us already have knowledge of the importance of well-being provision when letting your children ride their bicycles like wearing bicycle helmets and other protective gears. Sometimes, you worry when your children are not wearing helmets, arm and knee pads due to the fact that you look as if they can be not protected. Consequently true, sometimes even if your children wear all the protection they need, they can be still prone to accidents and injuries. The most common bike-related injury between children is the head injury which affects higher than 50% of children who ride their bikes. The greatest specific head injury is the traumatic brain injury which comprises the other 10% cause of bike-related death.



The other 90% bike-related accidents are caused by collision or crash with other motor vehicles. Collision or crash with other motor vehicles is the greatest common cause of death between children who are involved in bicycle accidents. Boys are more prone to meet bike-related accidents who are 14 years old and below. The bike-related accidents usually happen on minor roads and during night time, or dawn. The greatest common reasons for children to involve in bike-related accidents are riding their bicycles fast without stopping, not following traffic signs, and running against the traffic.



It is important to teach your children to how to ride a bicycle properly to stay away from these kinds of accidents. It shall also be important to remind them that they should not ride their bicycles on highways and first roads with fast cars passing. The possibility of getting hit by fast cars when riding a bicycle is high in first roads and highways due to the fact that cars in these roads tend to drive faster than usual. It shall also be important to teach your children the right path rules to follow. You should remind them that bicycles are not just toys to play without responsibility and caution.



You should tell them that a bicycle shall also be a tiny vehicle which also requires very many of responsibility when they use it. So remind them that prior to riding a bike, they should be careful and responsible enough to ride safely without getting hurt or hurting other people. It is better to prevent your children from accidents and injuries by educating them properly and sensibly. Your children should also look that their parents are doing what they preach. You should set examples for your children such that they shall be can follow what you do as their role models.



The next time you trust that bicycle helmets are enough to hold your children protected, you better ponder twice. Protective gears are useless if real knowledge on riding a bicycle is not learned.
